A word from the co-founders of the Nia Technique
In 1983, out of a desire to engage people in a more holistic approach
to working out, we threw off our shoes, eliminated repetitive jogging
up and down, and began to create Nia, a mind-body-spirit program based
on love and awareness. Nia is built around the principle of awareness
and self-study through movement. As such, it is a personal growth,
mind-body-spirit fitness program. Since awareness is ever-evolving, Nia
is a living system that works with the body's natural wisdom and
intelligence. Our work has taught people all over the world how to
reconnect to the sensate pleasure of joy and love in the body and how
to integrate the body, mind, emotions, and spirit. Our approach to
movement includes fitness and a personal exploration of the self. The
fruit of our work is body awareness, self-understanding, self-healing,
fitness, self-love and personal growth.
